Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie

This is my first "and more ..." smoothie. No greens in it but it was still yummy. Little Mama and Mr. Mister received Sesame Street's Silly Snacks Cooking with Kids cookbook from their grandmother. We've tried a couple of recipes from it and enjoyed cooking together. Since we've been making so many smoothies lately, I didn't surprise me that Little Mama wanted to try this smoothie from the Elmo/Red section of the book (the book is broken down in the sections by color with a matching character).

Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie (we made 1/2 a recipe since the recipe makes 4 servings)

2 kiwis, peeled and chunked
1 cup frozen whole strawberries
1 container (6 oz) low-fat strawberry yogurt (I used 2 2-oz yogurt tubes)
1/2 cup low-fat milk
2 tablespoons honey

Blend until desired consistency.

Both kids liked this smoothie. We don't usually do yogurt smoothies anymore so it was a nice change. I honestly didn't think that it needed the honey. The fruit and yogurt made it sweet enough for our tastes.

Mango-Peach Madness Green Smoothie

Mango-Peach Madness Green Smoothie

We picked peaches at a local orchard a couple of weeks ago and we picked way more than we could use. I knew that I would be freezing them for smoothies.

1 mango (I used a frozen one)
3 peaches (also used frozen)
1 handful of spinach
1/3 cup water (if you're using fresh fruit you might not need this additional water)

Blend until the desired consistency is achieved, adding water as needed.

There is nothing like the taste of fruits and/or veggies that you've picked yourself. This smoothie was delicious. Little Mama was at school when Mr. Mister and I made this so she couldn't taste it but Mr. Mister loved it.

Pine-Go Green Smoothie

Pine-Go Green Smoothie

This smoothie is incredible sweet. Mango and pineapple are very sweet fruits so it is a prefect combination for people just starting out with green smoothies.

1 mango (I used a frozen one)
8 oz fresh pineapple
1 handful spinach
1/4 cup water, optional

Blend until desired consistency, added water as needed.

Both kids sucked down this smoothie and wanted more afterwards. Very good and we'll definitely be making it again soon.

Purple Mega Berry Green Smoothie

This one has a ton of berries. And, I am lucky to have a high powered blender which really works well on berry seeds.

Purple Mega Berry Green Smoothie

1 cup strawberries
1 handful red kale (or other greens)
1 cup frozen mixed berries (I used blueberries, raspberries and marionberries)

I know that this doesn't look like a green smoothie but the kale is proof positive that it is. Little Mama loved this purple smoothie as did Mr. Mister. Warning - it makes a big mess if it gets splatter around the house.

Shrek Smoothie

This is one of the first green smoothies that I ever made. Amanda, our friend and babysitter, suggested this combination to me. The mangos and bananas with the spinach really give the smoothie the color of Shrek.

Shrek Smoothie from Amanda

1 mango
1 banana
1 handful of spinach

Blend to desired consistency, adding ice or water as needed.

Mr. Mister really likes this one. And Little Mama likes it too. But Mr. Mister is truly my green smoothie drinker. He'll pretty much drink anything that I give him.
